A little about Haley’s creative life. . .
What inspires you? Poodles and famous works of art.
When do you feel your most creative? While creating new designs.
What other artist inspires you most? There are too many to count. These are a few: Winslow Homer, Norman Rockwell, Chris Van Allsburg, Tasha Tudor, William Blake, Mitsumasa Anno, Fred Marcellino
What colors make you happy? Cool colors mostly, blues, purples, greens.
Do you listen to music while you create? I like listening to Old-time Radio or Jazz.
If you were to pick a different medium or craft to specialize in, what would it be? Letterpress
Do you have any favorite places to shop for supplies for in the area? Dick Blick and Art Mart
What is/are your favorite magazine(s) related to your art/craft? International Artist
What is your studio or work space like? I usually work at my desk in our home office.
If you could have your dream studio anywhere in the world, where would it be? Texas, where I grew up.
When did you first discover you were a creative spirit? Taking art classes at Laguna Gloria (in Austin, TX) one summer while in elementary school.
What is your all time favorite creation? My 3 foot by 5 foot monoprint of Poodles Crossing the Delaware.
When you aren’t creating, how do you like to spend your time? Reading classic novels, watching old movies (from the 30s, 40s, and 50s), playing with my cat and poodle, teaching ESL to international students, playing board games like Monopoly with my husband, playing harp.
